2006

  • Started Rural Staff Support Program as a pilot program in Jiri, Gulmi and Bajhang hospital
  • Awarded the first Nick Simons Award to Dr. Tarun Paudel, MDGP.

2007

  • Signed an agreement with Patan Hospital to conduct Anesthesia Assistant training.

2008

  • Signed MoUs with NHTC, Bharatpur and United Mission Hospital, Tansen to conduct BMET, AAT & SBA training

2009

  • Won Global Award for Excellence.
  • Pioneered the Follow-up Enhancement Program.
  • Published first volume of Newsletter "Swasthyakarmiko Aawaz".
  • Developed five-year Strategic Plan.
  • Inaugurated NSI's own building by Rt. Hon. President Ram Baran Yadav.

2011

  • Piloted Hospital Management Strengthening Training in 4 district hospitals which later scaled up in government system as Minimum Service Standards.

2013

  • Launched Diploma in Biomedical Equipment Engineering program.
  • Converted NSI's legal entity from a Pvt. Ltd. to NGO.

2015

  • Signed the first five-year Project Agreement "Nepal Rural Healthcare and District Hospital Support Program" with the Social Welfare Council.
  • Change in Directorship (Dr. Mark Zimmerman retired, Dr. Anil B. Shrestha took over)

2016

  • Established Research Unit

2017

  • Implemented Electronic Health Record system in Salyan, Gulmi, Taplejung and Doti.

2019

  • Signed a one-year "Rural Health Support Project" with the Social Welfare Council.

2020

  • Signed a five-year "Rural Hospital Strengthening Project" wiith the Social Welfare Council
  • Handed over MSS Software to MoHP
  • Established the first Provincial Biomedical Workshop in Sudurpachim province
  • Converted RU into Research, Advocacy and Monitoring (RAM)

2021

  • Change in Chairmanship (Mr. Vidyadhar Mallik became the Chairperson of the Executive Committee)
  • Change in Directorship (Dr. Anil B. Shrestha retired, Dr. Archana Amatya took over)

2022

  • NSI received Sasakawa Health Prize 2023 from WHO for its outstanding and innovative work in public health.
